Hello!

I am Angelica, a registered psychologist who enjoys helping people improve their mental health and wellbeing. I am based in East Melbourne and offer online or face-to-face psychotherapy in English and Spanish.

  • Many struggles, like depression and anxiety, can stem from deeper causes. Figuring them out can be complex, but my role is to support you in a safe and compassionate manner.

I have experience in different therapy modalities and am currently undergoing advanced training in ISTDP (intensive short-term dynamic therapy). This evidence-based approach is heavily influenced by psychodynamics. In ISTDP, we explore how your past experiences might be affecting you today. This involves paying close attention to your feelings and bodily sensations, particularly anxiety, as we examine difficult situations.

The goal is to gain a clear understanding of your current challenges and their potential origins. While exploring some emotions can feel challenging, the aim is to support you with compassion and non-judgment to integrate healthy solutions to your challenges.

  • Celebrating achievements. I take pleasure in supporting clients to understanding their problems while acknowledging their skills and achievements. Improvement may go unnoticed, and I enjoy inviting clients to notice and celebrate their steps towards wellbeing.

Embracing Diversity and uniqueness: I have found joy in tailoring my approach to the individual uniqueness, diverse challenges, varied cultures, and ages. I currently work with 18+ year olds.

Curiosity. My strong passion for learning and curiosity extends to exploring things we often take for granted. This translates into my constant pursuit of both formal and informal learning opportunities.

Relationship focus: It is a source of joy for me when a secure connection is created with my clients. I firmly believe that the transformative power lies not only in what is discussed in the therapy room but also in the connection created between the client and therapist.

We are not alone, acknowledging the power of connection: I have extensive experience working in the community and health sector. This background has equipped me with an understanding of the profound impact that connections with social support and services can have on your mental health journey.

Nature and music: I experience great satisfaction from immersing myself in nature and music, and I appreciate it when clients share how these elements contribute to improving their mental health.

  • • I am a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA). I'm also a Member of The Australian Psychological Society (APS) and The Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi)

    • I completed a Bachelor in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Family.

    • I completed a second master’s degree in clinical psychology.

  • I have particular interest in the areas of trauma, grief, life transitions, and relationship/family issues.

I strive to support people from the LGBTQIA+ community, who can often describe experiences of isolation, discrimination, and stigma from the community. I work to provide a supporting and safe therapeutic space to promote self-acceptance, resilience and healthy relationships.

I am deeply committed to collaborating with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds and Indigenous communities, who frequently encounter challenges such as forced migration, grief, intergenerational trauma, discrimination, social isolation, and stress-related issues. My interest in social and community psychology, coupled with my personal experience of migrating to Australia a decade ago, has underscored the significance of recognising that psychological concerns extend beyond the individual to encompass the broader community we live in.

Engaging in thoughtful reflections on how the experiences of CALD clients influence their mental well-being is a source of fulfillment for me. Furthermore, in some cases, acknowledging the connection to their cultures emerges as a crucial aspect of the healing process.
